Artificial Sweeteners Aren't Much Better
All you Diet-Coke lovers are going to hate me for this article. But hopefully a few weeks from now you'll appreciate it.
I'm going to keep this article quick.
Artificial sweeteners negatively affect our bodies in multiple ways:
Our bodies are tricked into believing that we're consuming sugar, increasing insulin resistance and increasing risk of obesity.
75% of adverse reactions to food additives come from artificial sweeteners.
Our gut flora may be killed by artificial sweeteners.
They are linked to increased cancer risk, kidney failure, liver failure and nervous disorders.
The five FDA-approved artificial sweeteners are acesulfame K, aspartame, neotame, saccharin and sucralose. The most commonly used are aspartame (common in diet soda) and Sucralose (found in many muscle building or fat loss supplements).
Avoid these like you should avoid sugar.
As I mentioned in my previous article on sugar, try using Truvia or Splenda, or naturally occurring sweetener alternatives.
